Ms. Jamila Davis

Ms. Jamila Davis is building an impressive resume.

Jamila is a senior at Spelman College majoring in Political Science and minoring in Sociology. Prior to interning with Children's Defense Fund, Jamila interned on Capitol Hill and worked at the Kennedy Krieger PACT Nursery in Baltimore. Jamila also spent a semester in Ghana where she volunteered at Beacon House Orphanage. It was following her experiences with children in her city and abroad that Jamila decided to pursue a career in child advocacy.

Jamila is an intern with the Early Childhood Development Department at CDF to gain a greater understanding of early childhood education and closing the achievement gap during the early years. Throughout the summer, she has been working on a project centered on the availability of full-day kindergarten throughout the nation. In the future, she hopes to become an educator and attend law school in order to become a child advocate.

She is also a member of Union Baptist Church. She is an example of why I am optimistic about our future. God is raising up outstanding young people right within our midst.
