Unity in God's House

Posted by Unknown Sunday, July 31, 2011

Later, this morning, I intend to tackle a sensitive subject within most churches, "Unity." My sermon title is, "Unity in God's House." Scripture reference is Ephesians 4: 1 - 5. In fact, you can read all of chapters 4 & 5 for the full understanding.

Paul addresses the idea of unity within the local church by offering three fundamental concepts everyone must recognize and either adopt or avoid.

The first is one propensity to emphasize differences as division. In God's house, differences are not a deficient, but create a mosaic that reflects God's plan for diversity as power.

The second is that people have to obtain a greater sense of maturity. When one becomes mature they gain wisdom. From wisdom, you obtain understanding. Maturity, wisdom and understanding are important for one to come to know that God's way is the only way.

Finally, everyone has to seek to live a life of purity. Purity brings humility, and humility brings unity.

Let the Church say, Amen!
