Blow on my garden!

"Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread abroad." Song of Songs 4:16

Sometimes the imagery of Solomon's Song of Songs creates problems as one reads and seeks to understand what is being said. The reason this book causes some of us problems is that we don't realize the depths of love God has for us. His love possesses elements that are intimate, sensual, erotic, and personal. The Song of Song communicates this aspect of God's love.

The North wind represents the harsh realities of life, the cold and crisp actions found in daily living. God sends His North winds to solidify our love for Him and to provide us with the power to demonstrate grace under fire. We learn a lot about ourselves in tough times. We deepen our love for God in tough situations. The North winds gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our faith in the midst of challenge.

On the other hand, The South wind is the warm, caressing, embracing love of God. The South wind eases our spirits and places a smile on our faces. The South wind soothes our weary souls and reminds us of how much God loves us and cares for us.

When the winds of God blows on your garden, that's when your response shows God the depths of your love for Him.
